A Special Collaboration. Hand Loomed Madras for Summer.
Today I am excited to share this special collaboration with the Original Madras Trading Co. Together we made two shirts and a small group of golf headcovers. The red madras shirt (above) is a second edition of a popular ACL shirt collab which was created in 2010 and immediately sold out.
Together with OMTC I worked to recreate the cloth to relaunch the original shirt and also introduce a new version for 2024. If you don’t know Original Madras Trading Co., it’s a multi-generational family business which specializes in hand-made cloth from Chennai. Madras cloth is traditional to the place and I’m delighted to get to work with such an authentic maker of beautiful clothes.
Each shirt is made from hand-loomed madras cloth. Made in India. The shirts feature the same heritage ACL & Co. New York label from the original shirts. I’m sharing these with all of you newsletter supporters first as I expect these to sell out quickly. I’ve been wearing mine for a few weeks and I hope you like as much as I do.
Original Madras Trading Co. x ACL GOLF
Since we were making some great madras cloth, I decided to also do some headcovers for the ACL GOLF shop. We made small quantities of three different fabrics in driver and fairway sizes with a chainstitch ACL flag logo on top. The headcovers are summer weight and are made from the hand-loomed same shirting fabric. They are light and should fade wonderfully in the sun. The full capsule of ACL x OMTC is here.

Very cool collaboration, congrats. This announcement sits in stark contrast to the Sid email today with "new arrivals for Fall," which I can't begin to think about when it is 99 degrees out. Madras is what the people need.
