Above the iconic Marina City twin towers and below some scenes from a menswear show in Chicago. This took a bit to get out here (because I wasn’t sure if I had enough to actually make a post), but it’s always fun to see everything at this show. I also love going to Chicago more and more. It always feels good to be in the Midwest, and I don’t mind spending a few days in the city during winter (probably because I get to come back to SoCal). I think another part of my growing affection for Chicago could be my stage of life. It feels like the right pace for me as my dad responsibilities have simplified my perspective, and my desire for easily navigable things has taken hold. Anyway, on to the menswear.
The Most Interesting Thing
Oxxford Clothing, with help from Chris Olberding, made some western tuxedos, and I have to say they are something wonderfully different from the storied, tailored brand showing in its hometown. While this is certainly not for everyone, I do think it’s a playful twist and well within the bounds of something different but cool. This is what we should be seeing at the Oscars. Granted, I am not the authority on tuxedos, and I generally resist them at all costs. But if I were going to a black tie event in Montana, this just might be what I would want to do…
