I. Oak Street Bootmakers Lug Bit Moc
This is a real Chicago special. Oak Street Bootmakers just, ahem, dropped some limited edition loafers in black and brown Scotchgrain Chromexcel. The leather comes from OSB’s friends across town at Horween. I love bit loafers (as documented in these newsletters and on Central Division) and Oak Street does a good thing here with the handsewn plus chunky outsole combo. I’m temped.
II. Barena at Trunk
Barena is one of the brands I would look forward to seeing at Pitti every season. The Venice brand excels at making simple clothing with an emphasis on classic styling with beautiful fabrications. It’s one of those if I could only buy clothes from one brand labels for me and each season there are dozens of pieces I want to transfer directly to my closet. Surprisingly for the make, design and details this stuff is not as expensive as you might expect. As always Trunk has a wonderful edit of the Barena SS24 line. I don’t care about fashion I am only interested in make and style — and Barena is the perfect expression of that.
