Mother’s Day Gift Guide

Mother’s Day is easy when you are only responsible only for a gift for your own mom. I can say that this is especially true as a boy. Just remembering the day is a win as a son (sadly) and giving a gift would have 100% success rate. I never remember giving my mom something she didn’t at least fake like. Giving a gift to the mother of your children is an entirely different ballgame. The stakes are raised and this is definitely a moment where your attention to detail and ability to plan will be judged. Rightfully so.

So what to do? Well, I asked my Creative Director and former Fashion Director friend Laurie Trott if she could make some suggestions for gifts women might like. You won’t need to tell anyone how you came up with such a good idea. You can thank us later!

Also, I added some of my own personal picks based on my observations of my own wife plus a few other ideas. I feel comfortable saying: a gift from this list plus a brunch reservation, a day of child care and perhaps a spa gift card could make the day a happy-one for all involved!

My ideas:

Emme Parsons Sandals — My wife loves these and while I’m not a womens footwear expert I do like them too.
Catbird — My wife likes this customizable jewelry and of course I do too!
Comme Si Socks — It’s difficult to elevate a simple item and Comme Si does that. This with flowers and some other things could be a really nice gesture.
LA Florist: Flowerboy Project. Better get on it.

Toteme is a brand I really like (thanks also to my friend Laurie Trott). I can’t imagine a sweater from here wouldn’t be appreciated.

Laurie laid out the below list of different types of gifts around the idea of style archetypes and then added. “Lets just assume they are all cool moms.” Perfect. She also added. “Scroll to bottom for a selection of jewelry under $1000 and three different ways to give flowers.” Now we’re talking.
