BTW the newsletter had an old note at the top from when we were in Colorado. Obviously this is old and not current. Sorry for the mix-up. Thanks for all of the love everyone.

Thanks for writing this. This is going to be a long haul trauma that will bubble up at the most unexpected times. I’ve been down that road. Don’t push it down or back. You have to embrace the suck when it comes, cry a bit, hug your kids and take the next step.

God bless.

Thank you, Michael, for the great reflection on what has happened in LA and how kids can give you perspective on what matters in the moment. I always look forward to reading the ACL newsletter and I am glad that ACL can also address everyday life and the challenges we face as a community and individuals. This place can be about style, great new products that can make life more enjoyable, and sharing our thoughts and emotions during moments of reflection.

Thank you for sharing, Michael. Glad to hear you are safe. Last week I found myself worried that the little diner you like to photograph called Snug Harbor (I think that's the name?) might not have survived. I have never been there or even nearby, but your writing and images created a connection to that place and many others that made it feel almost personal.

No doubt speaking for many here that you (and the rest of LA) have been in our thoughts. All the best to you and your family in an unimaginable time.

Very glad to read this as I was concerned of course, and afraid to hear worse news. Thanks for the thoughtful and moving reflections, without any negativity or complaint. Here's hoping that your "new normal" will be comfortable and soon. Namaste.

I thought about you and your family when I saw what was unfolding. I am so happy you and the family are safe and sound. While I haven’t been back in years, I often think of your essay on Joe Jost in Long Beach and it makes me smile.

Beautifully written, Michael. As a parent with kids about the same age as yours, I found myself getting choked up by your account. My absolute best to you, your family and your entire community.

Been thinking about you man, glad you guys are ok. We almost lost our house here in CO in the Marshall Fires a few years ago. It's wild how your entire view of being a parent and protector flips when it's challenged. Hang in there and enjoy the kids. It's going to be a brutally cold weekend, stay inside. Watch too much TV. Eat too much pizza. Buy something rad.

Thanks for taking time to share this intimate view. Your narrative is powerful and brings me closer to this tragedy than anything I've read so far.

I'll be thinking of you, your daughter and your family in the coming days and holding you in my heart. Please don't feel ANY pressure to update. I know you are very dedicated to this audience. We will be here knowing that the well-being of your community must take precedence.
