I recently peeked into the Ralph Lauren shop on Newbury Street in Boston. It’s a handsome store which feels like a not-so-distant cousin to the Ralph Lauren Mansion on Madison. As I walked from Beacon Hill across Boston Common with the leaves changing, it was hard not to appreciate peak autumn in New England. Even the numerous squirrels of the green were noticeably plump in their winter coats. It was, I would say, a perfect day in Boston.
As I looked through the racks at Ralph I found myself admiring the great vintage recreations at RRL, the barn coats and the flannels. Why don’t I wear more Ralph? I thought. The baseball caps are just so wonderfully done too (though not inexpensive). Then I found the rack with the RL67 jackets in the beautiful herringbone tweed from Magee in Donegal. The RL67 was initially created to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Ralph Lauren and has remained in the line every year since. Perhaps you might recall a few years ago when I paid a visit the mill on assignment for RL Mag.
