The ACL Digest
Not Signals, but similar.
Welcome to the ACL Digest. Each month, I will send all of my related stories from across ACL, The Material Review, and The Old Ghosts so you don’t miss a thing. Plus, some other interesting things I think you might like. Just a note: The Material Review is publishing twice weekly, and The Old Ghosts is publishing weekly. See you out there.
Central Division Book Club
As mentioned on the last podcast we sent out, we are having the first (and potentially only) Central Division Book Club with Light Years by James Salter. Coggins and I will be either taking questions or holding the chat on Substack Live (or whatever it is called) and we would love for you all to join us in reading the book and tuning in with thoughts on Nedra, Viri and the gang.
The Dash
In partnership with The Old Ghosts, we are having our first event this coming June 2nd and 3rd near Kennebunkport. The schedule is concise and powerful, two days of golf including a round at one of my all-time favorite courses, Cape Arundel, along with a lobster bake in Cape Porpoise, a village near and dear to my heart. The event is open to everyone and I would love to see you all there. Come up to Maine for the dinner on Monday and golf on Tuesday before you escape back to real life. Details are here. Hope to see you up there. -MW
Kitchen and Cooking Stories
Catching everyone up here, but recently I published two stories about cooking (by dads, for kids) and one about essential items to acquire. The later story included a fun interview with Chad Coll who is making incredible artisanal spoons in Maine. [A Realistic Dad’s Guide to Cooking] and [The Essential Kitchen]

Rolex invited me to the PGA Championship and I’m just back from Philadelphia in time to watch the final round. Some thoughts on what I saw out at Aronimink (and more to come from this trip which I think you will love). [8 Thoughts from the PGA Championship]
A story about Frank Lloyd Wright’s Imperial Hotel Tokyo by Nicholas Sapia that you might have missed. [Beauty & Restraint: Wright and Alison in Japan]

Maybe I’ve missed it recently but are Office Hours Q&A still a thing?
Michael, what is the timeline for the “book club”? Trying to assess whether I should crack the book now or later. Thanks!
