
I stumbled upon a truly great New York City moment this week. My exit from the train station to the streets of Manhattan coincided with the playing of Bill Evans California Here I Come. The sounds from the Village Vanguard followed me all along my walk to 44th Street. The city during rush hour with a background of Bill Evans on the piano is an all time combination. I could have walked for hours. Where has this been all of my life?
These moments have happened for me before. Vivaldi would frequently meet me on the corner of Prince and Broadway at Dean & Deluca. I would stand there frozen looking up at the ceiling while the chamber music filled the space. No matter what was going on in my day it would fill me with delight every time it happened.
